Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas: Tax Exempt and Government Entities, Exempt Organizations and Government Entities, Rulings & Agreements
The following are the duties of this position at the full working level.
Conducts research for and assists the manager Director on a variety of issues and special projects. Identifies potential and actual problems and probable causes; researches specific issues, gathers pertinent statistics or information, reports findings and may recommend corrective action for the full scope of a program or function.
Secures information, develops and compiles miscellaneous, recurring and special reports and studies. Compiles data for various financial reports, including securing input from staff and other TE/GE offices. Prepares backup data, recommends improvements and coordinates the compilation and preparation of reports involving more than one area.
Prepares and consolidates executive level presentation materials (reports, charts and graphs) for the manager. Serves as the main point of contact and furnishes information in administrative matters such as suggestions, reports, program schedules, staffing pattern evaluations, travel schedules, correspondence, management documents and similar substantive matters.
Receives and analyzes all incoming communications, reports and instructions. Personally, handles items of an administrative nature and forwards balance to appropriate personnel with required background material. Maintains suspense records on incoming/outgoing action documents and follows up on work in progress to ensure timely reply or action.
Qualifications
Federal experience is not required. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 LEVEL: You must have one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal government. Specialized experience is experience that is directly related to the work of this position and has provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance. Examples of qualifying experience include experience identifying problems and probable causes for solutions; researching and gathering pertinent statistics or information, reports findings to a higher level employees and may recommend corrective action for aspects of a program or function; experience revising procedures and controls; drafting memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts showing findings or recommendations; using word processing, database and spreadsheet software to prepare documents and to enter, revise, manipulate, sort, calculate, store and retrieve data.
AND
MEET TIME IN GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT: You must meet applicable TIG requirements to be considered eligible. To meet TIG for positions above the GS-05 grade level, you must have served at least one year (52 weeks) at the next lower grade (or equivalent) in the normal line of progression for the position you are applying to. Advancement to positions up to GS-07 is permitted if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade held within the preceding 52 weeks.
AND
TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: By the closing date (or if this is an open continuous announcement, by the cut-off date) specified in this job announcement, current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service since their latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate, known as time after competitive appointment. For this requirement, a competitive appointment is one where you applied to and were appointed from an announcement open to "All US Citizens".
You must meet the following special requirements: Candidates must meet the typing proficiency and office automation skills, as well as the experience and/or education required for this position.
Applicants must be a qualified typist with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute (based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors). Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for three years. We may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

Education
A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected. If the position has specific education requirements and you currently hold, or have previously held, a position in the same job series with the IRS, there is no need to submit a transcript or equivalent at this time. Applicants are encouraged, but are not required, to submit an SF-50 documenting experience in a specific series. A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
