Duties

You will drive one or more types of heavy vehicles, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, trash/garbage trucks, or dump trucks, which are typically equipped with air brakes. You will drive predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs. You will perform operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles. You will maintain records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Shift work may be required.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a current valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - including air brake AND tanker endorsements.
  • Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • Emergency overtime may be required.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
