Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing substantive IT Support to the U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO), District of the Virgin Islands. Typical work assignments will include: Assessing and articulating complex and multifaceted information related to investigations. Preparing investigative opinions requiring the use of considerable judgment and discretion to develop new ways and means for securing facts and evidence. Evaluating the interrelation between extracted information and the furtherance of investigations and prosecutions. Performing complex quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts. Consolidating and synthesizing data relevant to USAO operations collected from multiple sources. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet one full year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in the federal service performing the following types of duties: identifying the needs for warrants and subpoenas; communicating with other local law enforcement agencies for investigative activities; testifying in court cases regarding investigations; compiling and documenting physical evidence, creation of charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audio materials for the use of trial presentation and evidence; conducting interviews with witnesses; and maintaining investigative case logs and using automated systems to maintain investigative files. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
