You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR) in the FORCE PROTECTION ORGANIZATION of NAS FALLON SEC DET.

Duties

You will prepare course material to instruct personnel in the field of law enforcement (e.g., law and evidence, terrorist, laws of arrest, search and seizure, basic criminology, accident investigation). You will monitor law enforcement personnel to ensure compliance with agency standards and policies governing employee proficiency in the use and care of assigned firearms. You will propose career development plans (e.g., training requests, utilization proposals) to enhance career of law enforcement employees. You will discuss with students the procedures required in law enforcement. You will collaborate with training facilities (e.g. installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction.

• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. Required to pass an annual Physical Agility Test.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
• You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing course materials in the field of law enforcement; 2) Providing up-to-date material and information to students; 3) Conducting lectures, discussions, conferences, and demonstrations on law enforcement, investigative techniques, procedures, and practical applications; and 4) Identifying training needs and requirements of each law enforcement student, ensuring training is scheduled and completed. Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.
