The primary purpose of this position is personally provide a wide variety of specialized clerical and office automation support for the Youth Programs.
Duties
Performs and oversees the administrative and clerical duties of the School Age, Sports and Youth Programs to include the reception desk.
Maintains and manages waiting list, provide resource and referral for acquisition of care.
Administers financial records and reports.
Complies, revises or retypes Operating Instruction (OI's), regulations, registration packets.

- A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
- Incumbent must complete additional training requirement within specific timelines. Position/employee is subject to obtaining and maintaining training, to include infant/child CPR, first aid, and various Youth Development training modules.
- Must possess maturity and judgment and be capable of handling emergency situations common in dealing with Youth Center environment.
- Position is subject to work and uncommon tour of duty. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license to drive to activity locations.
- This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- The position is a job share position responsible for carrying out all duties and responsibilities of the position.
- This position requires a pre-employment physical examination.
- Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized rules, procedures and operations involved in a Youth Programs atmosphere. Skill to perform the full range of standard clerical and administrative assignments that occur in the normal child development center, and the ability to resolve recurring problem; knowledge of and skill in using personal computers, office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations; knowledge of basic internal controls procedures and cash accounting; knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly; knowledge of body of rules, procedures, or operations applicable to clerical assignments, such as preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining, files/records, and reviewing and processing mail.

EDUCATION: Four (4) years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
OR
COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of policies and regulations governing Youth Programs and early childhood development.
2. Knowledge and skill in operating office automation equipment and/or physical filling systems.
3. Skill in the use of software applications to effectively manage data, statistics and suspense's.
4. Skill in compiling and composing both quantitive and narrative reports for a variety of agencies based on analyzing data and circumstances.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to maintain a good working relationships with parents and other liaisons.
6. Ability to administer prescribed medications IAW AFR 215-27.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
