The incumbent of this position serves as a gardener at a National Park Service Unit. The primary purpose of the position is to provide proper care and maintenance for lawns, flowers, shrubs, and trees. The incumbent will perform this gardener work based upon seasonal schedules or project plans for the area, suitability of the weather, degree of moisture in the soil, and the stage of plant growth.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Pruning of shrubs, vines, and trees. Mowing and/or weed eating of seasonal vegetation. Watering of plants and basic irrigation knowledge. Basic plant identification skills. Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A GARDNER, WG-5003-06, WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION (SCREEN OUT) KNOWLEDGE OF TECHNICAL PRACTICES KNOWLEDGE OF MATERIALS ABIILITY TO USE AND MAINTAIN TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USE OF MEASURING INSTRUMENTS ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS, SPECIFICATIONS; OTHER THAN BLUEPRINTS DEXTERITY AND SAFETY If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
