The primary purpose of this position is to test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards of our resources to deliver war-winning capabilities.

Duties

Administers and maintains Logistics Readiness Squadron information systems hardware. Recommends selection of, installs, upgrades, and maintains software. Serves as the network security officer. Provides guidance, assistance, and training to customers.

  • A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570-01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in remove from this position. (revised 8-17-15 RM)

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements. Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Computer Assistance Series, 0335. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, specialized experience at the next lower broadband (NK-02), equivalent to the next to lower grade (GS-07) or equivalent in the Federal Service or equivalent experience in the Military Service. Specialized experience is test and evaluate state-of-the-art weapon systems and cyberspace capabilities, provide quality installation and mission support, and serve as responsible stewards. Documents user computer equipment and supply requirements for their procurement. Performs inventory of hardware and troubleshoots hardware, Wide Area Network (WAN), and Local Area Network (LAN) problems. Analyzes processes and/or problems relative to the design and selection of automated systems. Maintains records of software property controls and upgrade transactions. Applies system security policy and procedures to prevent unauthorized changes to supply information systems. Provides on-going technical advice and guidance to customers, both inside and outside of the immediate organization and prepares operating procedures and recommends automated methods for better use of resources. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of DoD and Air Force automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques. Knowledge of computer hardware and software systems and their interfaces; and higher level programming languages comparable to COBOL and FORTRAN and other job control languages. Knowledge of information processing sequences, controls, and procedures. Knowledge of facility environment and infrastructure to support computer systems, and to provide user support. Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment, and software; analyze computer network, software, and hardware problems and develop effective and economical solutions; and train users on new computer systems. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
