You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the SAFETY DEPARTMENT of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.90% will be added to the stated salary.
Duties
You will implement safety risk management through identification, assessment, and the control of hazards, compliance deficiencies, and unsafe behavior.
You will guide leaders, managers, supervisors, and personnel in implementing recommended corrective actions in order to control hazards.
You will develop, implement, and track goals and objectives for the safety program.
You will prepare the budget for the Safety Office and Command Safety Program.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to complete the following training courses within prescribed timeframe: OPNAVINST 5100.23 series and the NAVFAC Safety Community Management Plan.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements;2) Developing and implementing programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses;3) Inspecting or surveying workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; and4) Training of workers, supervisors, managers, or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects.
