These positions will serve as a Supply Technician assigned to Logistics Service, Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas located at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Indianapolis, IN. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Pulling stock inventory and material for delivery, replenishing stock inventory, and maintaining records on stock levels; Communicating to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures. Providing information to customers regarding medical supplies; Monitoring expiration dates, rotating stock to limit outdates, and removing items from use as required by outdates; Monitoring and controlling critical supplies; Performing daily inventory using bar coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment; Resolving differences between records and physical count of stock; Distributing items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems; Delivering supplies in a timely manner and ensuring supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition; Completing specialty cart preparation; Cleaning assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles; and Performing other related duties as assigned. Driver's License Requirement: This position requires a current, valid state driver's license to deliver supplies to various clinics and secondary locations that may be in remote sites. TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-05 GRADE LEVEL, APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician position. Specialized experience includes providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments, and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. -OR- EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
