This position is located in Independence National Historical Park. The primary purpose of the position is to operate one or more motor vehicles including straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more the 32,000 pounds, or truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers. Some of the vehicles operated may have manual transmissions with from four to ten forward gears and high and low auxiliary transmission.
Duties
Drive a 32,600 lb. G.V.W. (Gross Vehicle Weight) diesel trash truck with a 20 cubic yard hydraulic control compacting unit in a restricted, congested urban environment.
Load, tow, back, and unload trailers in a congested urban environment.
Perform operator-level preventative maintenance on a 32,600 lb. G.V.W. diesel trash truck equipped with auxiliary pumping system, air brakes, and air tanks that require daily checks.
Operate vehicles such as forklifts and bucket loaders to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as snow, sand, gravel, earth, or palletized cargo

SCREEN OUT QUALIFICATIONS: Experience performing the following duties: 1) driving a 32,600 lb. G.V.W. (Gross Vehicle Weight) diesel trash truck with a 20 cubic yard hydraulic control compacting unit; 2) operating one or more types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials such as sand, gravel, earth, coal, or refuse; 3) performing operator-level preventative maintenance on a 32,600 lb. G.V.W. diesel straight-in-line trash truck that is equipped with auxiliary pumping system air brakes with two air tanks that require careful and daily maintenance; 4) Hauling and dumping loads at landfill and city incinerators.
SCREEN OUT CDL: Commercial Driver's License: You must possess and maintain a current Class B Commercial Driver's License.
