This position is in the Office of Research and Development, Center for Environmental Solutions and Emergency Response, Research Planning and Implementation Staff. About: The Office of Research and Development (ORD) This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis. *EPA offers work-from-home and work schedule flexibilities as described in the Benefits section.

Qualifications

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for the GS-04 level, you need to have (1) at least six months of general experience defined as any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of this position AND (2) six months of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-03 level defined as operating or maintaining equipment in a laboratory setting; and reporting scientific findings in written documentation; - OR two years of education above high school that includes at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics;- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. To qualify for the GS-05 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-04 level defined as conducting scientific data testing and/or operations using  laboratory equipment/instruments; and utilizing software programs to record analyses/complete scientific assignments; - OR four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in a field of physical science, or (b) that includes at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics;- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:  Ability to analyze laboratory samples. Knowledge of scientific measurement instruments. Ability to operate laboratory equipment. Ability to prepare samples for analyses. Skill in written communication. Ability to interpret written technical and procedural resources. Knowledge of standard data collection processes.
