This position is located at Denali National Park & Preserve, in the Superintendent's Office. This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Term positions do not convey permanent status in the Federal service.

Duties

Independently responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and conducting functions associated with special management projects. Conducts research, analyzes and compiles information, and makes recommendations to the Superintendent about high priority management issues. Completes a variety of assignments including preparation of briefing statements, presentations, reports, etc. Analyzes and evaluates current internal communications protocols to determine the most effective methods for communication within the organization. Develops standard procedures for internal communications (e.g., strategic planning, staff newsletter, all employee meetings, and feedback opportunities) Coordinates and facilitates annual strategic planning with the goal of establishing a clear process for determining short and long-range strategic goals.

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/09/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position provides reports and recommendations to different levels within the organizations and various audiences, and the ability to type 40 words per minute (wpm) is required. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. You must document the number of words typed per minute on your resume. - AND - To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience includes but is not limited to: -Applying basic qualitative and quantitative techniques to gather and analyze information; -Evaluating work processes, operations and programs to and making recommendations for changes and improvements; -Recommending alternatives and/or changes in methods, processes, and/or techniques to improve program and administrative procedures; -managing/coordinating work projects; - And presenting project plans and proposals to management and staff. You must include the hours worked per week. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree Or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree Or LL.M., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.(You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours to qualify based on education). -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience) and 2 and a half years of graduate education directly related to the work of the position (50% of the education - only graduate education beyond the first two years is creditable) equals 100%. (You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating number of credit hours to qualify based on the combination option). The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
