THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a Electronics Equipment Repair Inspector, Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the Georgia Army National Guard.
This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership.
Area of Consideration: Open to current members Georgia Army National Guard.
Duties
As a Electronics Equipment Repair Inspector, WG-2604-12, you will:
Use a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. Inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity.
Conduct inspections, diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc.
Use various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspect equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required. Inspect equipment to determine repairs needed.
Utilize established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s).
Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommend to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL. Perform in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements.
Perform final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or reject the work and return the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs. Inspect the full range of equipment as described at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Serve as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT). Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized.
Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications
Military Grades: CW2 or below

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require employees to frequently lift and carry, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of material handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, stooping, and working in inverted positions. Climbing and working in high places may be required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, heat, changing temperatures, and noise. When outside, may sometimes work in adverse weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. Both inside and outside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on components and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, burns or bruises, electrical shock and sprains while repairing, positioning, moving equipment. Is often exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acid, fluids, solder, and lubricants. May use safety equipment for extended periods such as protective ear devices, eye protection, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing.
