Reclamation is seeking a leader looking for an opportunity to capitalize on their expertise to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the Hoover Dam. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting challenging water demands while protecting the environment. Duty Location: Lower Colorado Basin Region, Lower Colorado Dams Facilities Office located at the Hoover Dam in Clark County, NV. Full time telework and remote work not available; housing not provided.

Duties

Plans, directs, monitors, and evaluates all aspects of Hoover Dam's operations and maintenance functions, including facility and equipment installation and maintenance requirements, power production, and the scheduling and completion of required periodic testing and inspections. Leads the planning and design of new projects for the facility. Oversees operations, maintenance, and repair budgets; reports to the Area Manager and the LC Regional Director's Office; prepares data for briefings; analyzes budget and maintenance data; participates in the preparation of contingency plans for Hoover Dam facilities; and ensures compliance with safety and security regulations. Leads subordinate office chiefs to develop short and long-range plans in order to effectively maintain and operate facilities and equipment. Through subordinate supervisors, incumbent directs and coordinates the operation, repair, maintenance, construction and/or installation of machines, tools, equipment, buildings and grounds. Determines the need and develops plans for organizational changes which have considerable impact, such as those involving basic structure, operating costs, or key positions.

Qualifications

GS-14: In order to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time experience planning, directing, monitoring, and evaluating projects and programs of water facilities, power facilities, or industrial powerplants. This experience must demonstrate the ability to provide supervision, leadership, guidance, and direction through subordinate supervisors and staff in power operations. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the experience requirement above - this information must be clearly supported in the resume, HR may not make assumptions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 07/12/2024.
