Duties

As a Criminal Investigator (Direct Hire), you will perform the following duties: Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee Advises and collaborates with senior management on cybersecurity and sensitive technology to offer guidance and recommendations to decision makers regarding potential threats in these areas. Develops and implements guidelines, procedures, and instructions on using intelligence information and conducting investigations. Coordinates and performs criminal investigations both national and international on the export enforcement program. Prepares amendments, interpretations, clarifications, and other regulatory initiatives related to issues that may arise from the export enforcement provisions of the Export Administration Act. Briefs and presents federal criminal information to senior officials and agency stakeholders clearly and concisely during interviews, interrogations, and briefings. Qualifications

Firearms: You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will be required to carry and use a firearm, demonstrate proficiency on a recurring basis, and not be in violation of 18 USC 922 (Lautenberg Amendment). Lautenberg Amendment: This position authorizes the incumbent to carry a firearm. Any person convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, USC Section 992(g)). A felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is generally defined under the statute as any offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force or the threatened use of a deadly weapon committed by the victim's current or former domestic partner, parent, or guardian. The term convicted, as defined in the statute, excludes any person whose conviction has been expunged, set aside, or pardoned, or any person whose civil rights have been restored, so long as such restoration does not restrict the shipping, transport, possession or receipt of firearms or ammunition. Candidates convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence within the meaning of the referenced statutes are not eligible for the position. Medical Requirements The duties of positions in this series require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required to perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself, or others is disqualifying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-13 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: -Preparing and coordinating investigative matters related to cyber and technology supply chain security. -Investigating intelligence information on insider threats. -Establishing and maintaining investigative plans, researching records, laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines. To qualify at the GS-14 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: - Performing investigative research on national and international export enforcement programs. - Advising on internal and external threats, such as insider and cyber security risks, and safeguarding technology supply chains. - Preparing and conducting interviews, interrogations, surveillance, and coordinating with state and federal agencies for enforcement activities. - Developing policies and procedures for cyber strategy under the Export Administration Act.
