THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) (MI JFHQ - G6), Position Description Number D2524000 and is part of the MI JFHQ Army, Michigan Army National Guard.
Duties
***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP***
This position is located at the JFHQ-State in the Chief Information Officer directorate. The primary purpose of this position is to provide auditing to ensure secure operations of the network enclave and provide incident response actions as directed by the cybersecurity service provider.
DUTIES
1. Conducts audits of information systems compliance, to include network devices; servers; and end user devices, related to security standards, guides and application updates to enable and ensure accreditation of all systems IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures. Ensures that all elements are in compliance with guidance concerning accreditation of automated information systems, risk management, control of computer viruses, and other similar issues.
2. Reviews Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approves new user accounts, and conducts ongoing audits to ensure all privileged and user accounts comply with Army Standards.
3. Conducts investigation of security incidents, reports findings to leadership and remediates findings based on guidance from the cybersecurity service provider and IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures to include: computer viruses and sanitation of highly classified information from organization.
4. Reviews submissions to Change Configuration Board, or other bodies proposing changes, to network or information systems and applications and makes recommendations to senior cybersecurity team lead.
5. Maintains an operational knowledge base of past, current and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cybersecurity/Information Assurance professionals. Must anticipate the effects of new emerging technology and develop policies to control it to prevent security violations. Makes recommendations regarding policies and/or procedures to prevent or react to security concerns.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Months Required: 36 Months
Specialized experience as a Defense Personnel Cyberspace Operations CPT-ICS Team Member and performed cyberspace operations that protected and defended (or assessed the capability to protect and defend) information and information systems by ensuring their availability, authentication, confidentiality, integrity and non-repudiation. Experienced in mission assurance of information systems by incorporating protection, detection, and reaction capabilities. Competent in conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of DoD information systems to identify associated vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs. Experiences included working with in-garrison and deployed cyberspace weapon systems. Competent in configuring and monitoring hardware and software for systems operation, processing and control of data flow, and client-server multi-user system support, including network management or administration. Experiences must include two or more of the following business tasks: Evaluating and assessing vulnerabilities of customer network and application server hardware, operating systems, and peripheral network equipment, such as routers, bridges, switches, attached cabling system, network interface cards, modems, multiplexers, and concentrators. Experienced in searching and illuminating advanced persistent threats in DOD Cyber systems and protects priority DOD missions for a specified duration.
Education
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Other conditions of employment:
1. Must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance level.
2. This is an Information Assurance Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements
for certification at Level II in Information Assurance Technician (IAT-II). Certification requirements may be found in DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program.
3. All certifications are required within 6 months of employment.
