This position is located on the Salmon-Challis National Forest in Salmon, Idaho. The position is responsible for providing assistance and support for tasks related to program supplies and equipment essential to the unit operations, including the Forest fire cache. Duties

Receive, inventory, organize, and store a variety of supplies and equipment to support unit projects. Inspect incoming shipments for quantity, and quality; identify, label, sort, and segregate supply and equipment for secure storage. Determine storage locations and make selections for shipment or distribution by quantity to fulfill supply requests. Order stock, maintain stock, and issue stock items to fire crews in support of unit needs. Participate in program planning support work such as, acquisition, tracking, utilization, protection, and disposition of federally owned supplies and equipment for the unit. Organize and maintain a Cache of inventory to support the unit’s needs. Prepare field equipment, supplies, and materials for shipping to field units. Physical demands involve moving materials up and down stairways and pulling/storing on shelves from ground level to overhead. (bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, etc.) You may be required to push, lift, and carry up to 75 pounds.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one year probationary period, unless previously served.
  • Per Public Law 104-134 all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a forklift operator’s license.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-07: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Qualifying experience includes meeting 2 out of the 4 examples of specialized experience: Participated in program planning and logistics support such as, acquisition, tracking, utilization, protection, and disposition of accountable supplies and equipment. Organized and maintained a cache of specialized equipment, including ordering and issuing stock items to personnel. Received, inventoried, organized, and stored a variety of supplies and equipment including determining supply, equipment, and real property value. Used equipment to move supplies (carts, forklift, etc.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
