This position is located in WACO Mammoth National Monument.

Duties

This position is the Park Ranger (Site Manager) at Waco Mammoth National Monument (WACO), located in Waco, Texas. This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (LYJO), located in Johnson City, Texas approximately 2.5 hours from the site. The incumbent is responsible for planning, managing, directing, and evaluating a complex and multifaceted program of interpretation, resource education, visitor services, community outreach, youth programming and partnerships. The employee is also responsible for coordinating resource management, facility management, administrative, and law enforcement services with the relevant program leads at LYJO.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: program management or coordination, assistant or program specialist work involving development and implementation of complex, controversial, and/or sensitive policy related to protection and conservation of park areas or similar operations; directs programs and work through direct and indirect supervision or other similar work. You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
