Duties

You will conduct research and development of the chemical processes used for cleaning, stripping, and plating aeronautical and support equipment. You will evaluate shops and contractor produced parts/components for conformance to engineering drawing/specification requirements. You will review and evaluate chemical process operations and processes for incorporation as a recommended process/operation on applicable projects. You will write, maintain, and update specifications, including special rework/processing instructions, and project reports.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to provide temporary engineering support service in ships at sea and at shore bases worldwide.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working knowledge of the chemical processes used in production shops for cleaning, stripping, and plating methods/processes in the rework of components for military aircraft and ground support equipment; 2) Demonstrated experience with anodizing and electroplating solution processes (i.e. conversion coating of aluminum, chrome plating, nickel plating, cadmium plating, etc) and other chemical processes used for metals finishing of aircraft component; 3) Conducting research and development of chemical processes and methods; and 4) Providing engineering requirements and technical support for assigned weapons systems and related equipment. Education Substitution for Experience (GS-09):
Successful completion of two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
or
Successful completion of a master's degree that is directly related to the position being filled.
or
A combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
