About the Position: This position is located at Monterey, California. The purpose of the work is to formulate comprehensive treatment plans with objective behavioral outcome measures to aid in restoring and rehabilitating patients with acute, chronic, or severe personality, emotional, and mental illnesses.

Duties
Screen and interview patients to include performing bio-psychosocial evaluations.
Provide individual and /or group psychological counseling utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to include brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy and client-centered therapy.
Participate in multi-disciplinary patient-care teams to further determine a patient's psychotherapy treatment.
Assess and provide crisis intervention for individuals with complex behavioral health conditions and problems.
Perform evidenced-based individual and group counseling for patients enrolled in a behavioral health outpatient program.
Administer and interpret appropriate psychological tests.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. (NACI Tier 1).
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.

Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: performing psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services; developing treatment plans for patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, or territory.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
