The Financial Accounting Technician position is located at the Sioux Falls Veterans Affairs Health Care System in the Finance Department. The incumbent supports all aspects of employee compensation and travel to Veterans Health Administration employees within the Health Care Systems.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Record financial data in an automated system. Conduct training on regulations, policies and applicable software application/system. Create training modules to encompass system enhancements, new policies and regulations. Identify issues and creates a corrective action plan. Analyze and compares data between multiple systems. Provide customer service on the phone and via email. Conduct audits ensuring adherence to regulations and policy. Develop corrective actions to resolve issues identified during audits. Generate reports and reviews results. Examine documentation for completeness and accuracy. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:30am- 4:00pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/02/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify for GS-7 based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience GS-07: Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of full-time specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable specialized experience, it must have been equivalent to the GS-06 grade level (or equivalent) and includes but is not limited to: Reconcile various types of pay and leave transactions. Apply conventional practices to treat a variety of problems in accounting, budget, or financial management transactions. Conduct pay and leave audits. Manage the accurate and timely recording of employee time in a payroll system.
