This vacancy is for an Administrative Specialist position in the U.S. Census Bureau, Field Division's Regional Offices. Few positions are available at each of the six Regional Office locations.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Administrative Specialist, 0301-12, FPL GS-12 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Initiates and/or prepares personnel actions and processing of time and attendance documents.
Review and submit onboarding documents for personnel processing to hire employees in the region, process awards and monitor performance plans for compliance.
Trains staff in personnel/payroll procedures, progress reporting and other administrative activities to include E-Verify
Supervises a subordinate staff of 5-12 employees performing personnel, time and attendance, and general administrative support work.

- The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal services. Experience in planning, organizing, and carrying out the administrative support responsibilities within the RCC/RO.
Experience in the technical and administrative supervision of office staff, and is responsible for planning, designing, and carrying out the work independently. Experience in the range of administrative office regulations, policies, procedures and systems, including supplies, safety, telecommunications, hiring, training, and other personnel actions which serve to facilitate the work of the RCC/RO. Knowledge and skilled in using personal computer office systems software for work processing, data entry and transmission, and report preparation. Skilled in conducting research applying standardized analytical methods and techniques to accurately assess gathered information and recommend ways to improve service delivery.
