You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/NETWORK) in the Information Systems and
Technology (ISaT) Directorate, of NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY.
This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Duties
You will serve as the direct support element to the fleet customers in designated Area of Responsibility (AOR), which includes providing senior technical support to customers.
You will coordinate and work closely with other IT teams, such as network administrators, security professionals, and help desk support, to ensure the seamless operation of IT services.
You will assist with Account Management: creation, modification, deactivation, managing permissions, and access control.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Local Area Network (LAN) installations with existing systems and infrastructure.
You will provide daily IT-related customer support to the fleet customers in designated AOR and manage customers’ trouble tickets using the organization’s service ticket system in a timely and efficient manner.

- This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Network Ops Spec and Sys Admin, proficiency level I the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following:
1) Applying systems administrations theories, concepts, and methods sufficient to perform day-to-day operations and maintenance of the organization's IT equipment;
2) Applying network management methods sufficient to conduct site surveys to assess infrastructure needs and recommends network infrastructure based on project requirements;
3) Developing technical specifications and other procurement documentation to include economic analyses supporting hardware acquisition and associated licensing and support.
Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
