The Primary Purpose of this Position is to serve in the capacity as a Maintenance Supervisor and supervise staff engaged in a variety of trades consisting of Plumbers, Locksmiths, Painters, Pipefitters, and Maintenance Mechanics.
Duties
At the Waco location: one (1) Plumber, WG-4206-09, five (5) Maintenance Mechanics, WG-4749-09, one (1) Locksmith, WG-4804-09, two (2) Painters, WG-4102-09, and two (2) Pipefitters, WG-4204-10. Also supervises temporary and compensated work therapy/vocational rehabilitation therapy workers.
Serves as technical and administrative supervisor over at least 11 workers within the unit. Exercises full supervisory responsibility over work operations involving maintenance, repair, modification, renovation, and new construction of various building components. Provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities and policies, and relies controls work operations to accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work. Reviews work for efficient and economical accomplishment with priorities.
Maintains inventory stock levels. Develops, implements, and monitors routine and non routine maintenance program. Advises on current and potential issues M&O issues that affect or impact the work of the unit. Ensures compliance with designated policies, procedures, and standards related to environmental and personal health safety. Contacts vendors and constructs scope of work documents to ensure all projects are completed properly. Reviews scope of work and monitors contractor performance to ensure work is done and confirms to the contract drawings and specifications.
Occasionally acts on behalf of the Chief of Maintenance and Repair during his/her absence. Incumbent performs other duties as assigned.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Physically, the Maintenance Supervisor is expected to be able to meet the following functional requirements: light lifting (15 pounds); light carrying (15 pounds); and walking (3 hours). Some work may require movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. Work may also require walking/standing, in conjunctions with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site.
