About the Position: This position serves as a Secretary (Office Automation) with the 165th Infantry Brigade, Office of the Commander, Fort Jackson, SC.

Duties

As a Secretary (Office Automation), you will perform duties to include, but not limited to the following: Perform receiptionist duties, receiving both personal and telephone callers. Schedule appointments and keeps calendar of official and social appointments. Make necessary arrangements for, and coordinates temporary duty (TDY) travel, arranging schedule of visits, making reservations, notifying organizations and officials to be visited, and submitting travel vouchers to the Finance Office. Serve as an authority to other secretaries and administrative staff on administrative policies and channeling/processing of correspondence. Perform office automation duties, types into final form from written material, brief instructions and/or voice recordings pertaining to military and non-military correspondence, narrative and using manual, electric, or automated equipment. Utilize automated system for Microsoft Outlook, Centralized Operations Police Suite (COPS), Defense Travel System (DTS), Formflow, Publisher, and other Microsoft Office programs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required up to 5%.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching administrative guidance; providing direct administrative support to senior leadership of an organization; maintaining a supervisor's calendar and schedules; managing travel arrangements; screening visitors and calls for an organization; reviewing and editing correspondence; and providing technical assistance to offices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
