About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Knox, KY.

Duties

Conduct intelligence research regarding threats to sustainment operations in USCENTCOM AOR in support of a larger analytical effort. Conduct searches to provide information as part of the in-depth analytical taskings. Conduct all-source, multi-disciplined (HUMINT, IMINT, SIGINT, and MASINT) intelligence analysis. Prepares and produces scheduled and unscheduled intelligence products to major intelligence studies. Determines research methodology and work approach and revises as appropriate to assigned taskings. Identifies intelligence gaps and provides input to the formulation of collection sources.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position is EMERGENCY ESSENTIAL. Must be deployable to OCONUS locations to include hostile fire zones, if required, in support of operations. Anthrax vaccination will be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Deployment Physical required.
  • This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) in CONUS and OCONUS generally not to exceed 50% of normal duty.

Specialized experience is defined as experience as having at least two (2) of the following: (1) analyzing intelligence information to assess threat implications within assigned geographical and functional areas; (2) presenting intelligence product conclusions within the intelligence community; or (3) preparing all-source intelligence products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data. -OR- Education: A Ph.D or equivalent Degree that is closely related to the position. Closely Related constitutes a degree which has educated the student in pertinent, specific position-related subject matter allowing the student to develop knowledge and abilities directly applicable to the position being filled such as International Relations, Foreign Area Studies, Political Science, Geography, Foreign Affairs, International Law, History, Economics, Demography, Engineering, Law, Sociology, Psychology, Military Science, Cartography, Social or Cultural Anthropology, and/or Physical or Chemical Science. (NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with application). -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
