This position is located at the Kayenta Service Unit, Division of Information Technology, Kayenta, Arizona. The primary purpose of this position is to operate the Service Unit Switchboard telephone system, provide administrative assistance, and IT helpdesk support. The IT Supervisor and/or designee provides general supervision.

Duties

Receives all incoming and outgoing local and long distance calls Performs routine tasks required in the operation of the switchboard console Uses exceptional telephone courtesy and tact in dealing with a diversity of callers which may sometimes be under difficult and stressful circumstances Logs all help desk calls into the system Provides technical assistance with minor issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware Serves as the Point of Contact (POC) for technical issues with telephone system software and remedies all telephone help requests Assists with maintaining and managing the overhead paging system Maintains a current directory of staff personnel, administration and medical callback duty schedules and listing of assigned pager or cell phone numbers Responds to health center emergency alerts by paging overhead

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-03: Six (6) months of general experience. OR One (1) year of education above high school is also qualifying for the GS-3 level. OR Combined Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. GS-4: One year of general experience. OR Two (2) years above high school. OR Combined Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
