This position serves as the Lead Medical Records Technician (Coder) for the Clinton Service Unit located in Clinton, Oklahoma. The purpose of this position is to coordinate and perform technical level work in a variety of medical record functions including coding, reimbursement and medical record systems, physician support functions, and functions of office automation hardware and software systems. The incumbent will report to the HIM supervisor of the Clinton Service Unit.
Duties
Ambulatory care coding and problem solving technical third-party claims.
Plan and assign day to day work assignments.
Orientate and train facility staff in medical record process.
Interpret information in medical records utilizing coding materials and systems for coding purposes.
Maintain confidentiality of all medical record information/data as required by HIPAA, Privacy Act, and other applicable laws.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: advance coding experience demonstrated in the capacity of reimbursements, medical records, third-party claims, denials, and coding changes; train departmental staff on medical record procedures and assignments; disseminate work assignments to meet billing deadlines; coordinate corrective action plan for technical problems of claims; and perform comprehensive analysis to convert data to reports and statistics capturing trends for presentation and accountability.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
