You will serve as a MOBILE EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR in the TRANSPORTATION DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul complex major components and systems in combustion-powered automotive vehicles, electric-powered vehicles and equipment, towed vehicles and equipment, over the road trucks, and comparable vehicles.
You will rebuild and overhaul a variety of components, accessories, and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, compressors, etc.
You will inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials, transaxles, electronic fuel, injection systems, emission control systems, and other related assemblies.
You will use measuring instruments and test equipment (i.e., computerized engine analyzers, emission and compression testers, battery/charging/starting system test equipment, multi-meters and dial/pressure gauges, etc.)
You will troubleshoot defects and diagnose malfunctions and determine the type and extent of maintenance and/or repairs needed.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications

1) Using manuals, technical specifications, auditory tests, and test equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions on vehicles and equipment; 2) Determining the type and extent of repairs required for a variety of heavy duty vehicles and mobile equipment; and 3) Prepares accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of actions taken, and ensures documentation is properly signed and coordinated in a timely manner. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
