This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent is assigned to the Reference Section at the Civilian Personnel Records Center (CPR), Valmeyer facility - and provides reference service associated with military and civilian medical records, civilian OPF/EMF, military microfiche, and general reference records located at this facility.
Duties
As a Lead Archives Technician, you will:
Provide guidance and technical direction necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit or team.
Monitor the status and progress of work and make adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
Search, analyze, and respond to complex or non-routine search requests.
Resolve problems by analyzing inquiries and ARCIS data to determine the appropriate next steps when required records cannot be located through normal means.
Apply knowledge gained through record analysis to perform audits on records searched, inter-filed, and re-filed.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and which equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
Maintaining or utilizing database information;
OR
Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance ;
AND
Communicating, verbally or in writing.
OR
Education: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
