You will serve as a RIGGER in the ORDNANCE DEPARTMENT of NMCPAC CWD UNIT INDIAN ISLAND at NAVMAG INDIAN ISLAND.

Duties

You will perform rigging by use of cranes, hoisting tackles, pull lifts, chain hoists, roller bars, skids and forklifts. You will direct the movement of cranes with capacities up to 130 tons. You will direct lifting, moving and placement of heavy loads in loading and unloading materials and machinery from railroad cars, trucks, barges, ships and on tops of high buildings. You will stand and run rigging from wire rope and manila line. You will serve as the Naval Magazine Indian Island weight test certifying official for al Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and Ordnance Handling Equipment (OHE).

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class A license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
