About the Position: This position is the Administrative Assistant to the Branch Chief and Mid-level Management for the Albany Field Office. Main duties consist of Timekeeping, Employee On-boarding, Travel Arrangements, Scheduling, Government Purchase Card holder, Financial functions and all other Administrative requirements such as data entry, filing, copying, etc.
Duties
Interprets and applies policies and procedures related to procurement, property management, personnel reports, and records management, and clerical support.
Serves as the focal point and liaison between the field office and District staff offices regarding personnel, IT, supplies and other administrative transactions.
Meets and greets visitors to the site, ensuring proper sign-in procedures, and escorting them to the appropriate office.
Compiles and maintains data to prepare various reports on navigational, operational and administrative matters.
Maintains office calendar of visitors, meetings, vacations, inspections and events.
Handles personnel paperwork and financial payroll demands.
Serves as project timekeeper in accordance with regulatory guides.
Prepares correspondences and responds to numerous telephone requests for information.
Serves as a purchase card holder.
Responds to inquiries from employees.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 5% of the time.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience GS-07:
One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Maintaining employee's time and/or attendance; and 2) Directing phone calls; and 3) Maintaining calendars and/or schedules of appointments; and 4) Managing office records and/or documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities
necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, Administration, or Human Resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
