About the Position: You will perform a Field Office Assistant (OA) responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical support duties to facilitate the operations of the Area Office. This vacancy may be filled at either West Palm Beach, Florida or Wellington, Florida location.

Duties

Maintain applicable database systems with data entry. Use financial management systems to input time and attendance records. Operate office machines, such as telephone, copier, fax and personal computer, to complete administrative work. Prepare a variety of reports, documents, correspondence, graphics, tables, presentations and other similar material. Assist staff in developing reports, correspondence and desktop publications. Communicate with visitors and staff to answer questions and provide general information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires a fully qualified typist to perform word processing duties. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes being responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties to facilitate administrative operations; input and retrieve information from a computer to be used for reports and correspondence; resolve problems associated with the administrative and clerical aspects of the office. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailClericalCustomer Service Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
