This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6), Hampton VA Medical Center (VAMC), Health Administration Service, under the Beneficiary Travel Section.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Performs work involving consult management, appointment scheduling and special mode transportation scheduling. Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of the Beneficiary Travel section. Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Evaluates documents, e.g., sampling plans, permit applications and other data collection forms. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system. Plans consult processing flow to ensure Veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patient in all specialty areas. Responds to "action required" notifications, ensuring the primary providers are correct. Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Work Schedule: 7:30am-4pm; 8am-4:30pm (Monday thru Friday) Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/09/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: identifying and utilizing appropriate available resources; work with VA laws, regulations, directives, policies, procedures, performance measures and guidelines relating to VA medical benefits administration, organizational structure, VA mission and goals, station directives, HIPPA regulations; consult management, scheduling, admissions, discharge, transfer, and administration with patient processing; electronic medical records; prepare and produce written instructions and a variety of correspondence.. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Computer SkillsControl of FundsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Medical Information Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that require a professional attitude and collective reasoning. The incumbent is subject to a high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever-changing demands due to program changes.
