This National Guard position is for an AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0710000 and is part of the FL AASF 2, National Guard.
Duties
As an AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8810-10, you will test and troubleshoot aircraft rotor and/or propeller systems using special tools and test equipment. Diagnose any malfunctions of rotor/propeller systems and make necessary repairs. This includes disassembly, repair, and reassembling rotor/propeller system components, and internal hydraulic and electrical components using common to special tools, and equipment. Repair and refinish blades/propellers using a variety of metal working tools and precision measuring instruments. Perform troubleshooting of the powertrain systems using special tools and test equipment, diagnose any system malfunctions and make necessary repairs. This includes disassembly, repair, and reassembling powertrain components, such as drive shafts, gear boxes, mast assemblies.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, engine noise, heat blast, rotating propellers, explosives, electrical voltage, fire, or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints, and solvents.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds. Hoists, hand trucks, balancing equipment, lifts, and other employees are available to assist when handling heavy or awkward items.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted; E4 thru E7.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Musthave experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Must have at least 18 months of experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis.
