This position is located in the Product and Market Analytics Branch, Division of Market Oversight, at the CFTC. Market Analysts perform in-depth analysis using proprietary CFTC data, as well as data from other sources, to understand market developments and support regulatory development at other branches of DMO. Market Analysts frequently present results from their analysis, including to senior Division and Agency leadership.
Duties
Working with Associate Director and Deputy Director to develop appropriate research questions and methodology for identifying market trends and insights and to support Division rulemakings.
Extracting and analyzing data from CFTC sources, including swaps data, and integrating with appropriate public data, to analyze market trends and to support rule development.
Assisting other analysts and teams with data analysis techniques, as directed by Associate Director and Deputy Director.
Preparing reports, presentations, and other work product as needed, and presenting this work product to other technical and non-technical staff, including senior leadership of DMO and CFTC.
Developing expertise in commodity derivative markets and market operations for new and emerging markets and applying this knowledge to their work.
Developing and maintaining contacts with external agencies including industry participants, other federal agencies etc.

Qualifications
To Qualify at the CT-13:
Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the CT/GS-13 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience. Specialized experience is defined:
Ability to apply knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas of commodity derivatives (futures, options and swaps): commodity and financial futures, exchange traded options, foreign exchange forwards, cross currency and Interest rates, credit index swaps and the underlying cash markets;
Experience using software applications such as SAS, STATA, R, Python, etc. to integrate and analyze data sets to identify trends, outliers, and relevant relationships between various fundamental factors;
Experience preparing written reports and presentations on technical topics;
Experience in presenting results from complex analyses to audiences with different levels of expertise.
