The purpose of this position is to assist with the provision of a comprehensive Public Health Program to Native Americans within a specific geographic area. Incumbent reports to the Program Director.
Duties
Assessing the health status of individuals, families, groups and communities.
Counseling patients or families in the home, school, health center or community.
Teaching and demonstrating nursing procedures in care and rehabilitative measures.
Develops, modifies and adjust care plan to meet the needs of the client.
Provide continuity of care by referring to appropriate resources for health needs.
Assist with control of communicable diseases through case identification, epidemiological practice and prevention.
Conduct nursing conferences or specialty clinics.
Maintain documentation and submit required reports.
Maintain professional knowledge and competency.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: All applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-09:
Candidates must possess a master's degree in professional nursing; -OR-
Have at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or above) and possession of a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: delivering health and nursing care to individuals, families, schools within communities using initiative, judgement, in covering a range of nursing services through counseling, teaching and follow-up within established plans, policies, and objectives of the agency and evaluating the effectiveness of the program, appraise the quality of nursing services delivered which impacts the health of individuals, families, and communities.
