You will serve as a LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT in the PLANNING, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

You will perform landscape architectural design, including planning, concept design development, sustainable design, design analyses, in compliance with applicable codes and standards. You will coordinate landscape architectural designs with the architectural and engineering disciplines for Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) projects to ensure overall compatibility and efficiency of the site and building design. You will execute design and analyses, utilizing advanced design software. You will prepare landscape architecture design plans specifications and, construction documents for new constructions and renovation projects for various Navy and Marine Corps facilities. You will use the latest technological design and drafting tools (CAD). You will present designs and studies to higher level authorities or other Components within NAVFAC, and to Supported Commands.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Licensed, Registered, or Certified Landscape Architect. Registration must be in the District of Columbia, a U.S. state, or U.S. territory.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provide professional specialized landscape architectural assessment services, guidance, and consultation to supported Facilities Engineering Commands for project site and structures; 2) Develop landscape architecture concepts, principles and practices applicable to the full range of duties with design, layout, and building sites; 3) Communicate both orally and in writing to present proposed designs and results of studies, produce results of analysis, consolidate findings, and evaluate recommendations; and 4) Track the progress of projects to ensure that they are kept within construction budgets and that the drawings and specifications are completed within allotted design schedules. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess

A. You have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in a landscape architecture or landscape design.

OR You have successfully completed a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture in an accredited college or university.

OR

B. You have a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience -- for each year short of graduation, you must have had 1 year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience included original landscape design.
