Duties
Knowledge of a broad range of environmental principles, regulations, policies, procedures, laws, and techniques sufficient to insure that regulatory work is in compliance with applicable legal standards and other requirements.
Working knowledge of the basic principals of geography, biology and/or physical science and skill to identify, interpret, and determine the the interrelationships between various natural phenomena and the impact of planned construction activities.
Knowledge of vegetation, soils, and hydrology sufficient to accomplish and verify accurate wetland delineations.
Knowledge of project management techniques and skill sufficient to ensure an integrative approach toward interpreting and determining significance of relationships, evaluate and recommend alternatives, conduct studies, determine potential impacts.
Knowledge and skill to serve as the District's technical representative or government's expert witness during court cases contesting the issuance or denial of a Department of the Army permit.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A one year trial/probationary period may be required.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% or more (may be less if requested by management) of the time.
- This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Biologist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree ( or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (must provide transcripts before employment can be confirmed)
Basic Requirement for Physical Scientist:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree ( or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (must provide transcripts before employment can be confirmed)
Education
