The primary purpose of this position is exercise first-level supervisory and managerial authorities over the Operations Section of the Force Support Squadron (FSS), which includes mortuary affairs, unit training, readiness, and plans functions. Responsible for providing advice and support to leadership across the entire spectrum of squadron activities.
Duties
Provides support to management in planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the Force Support Squadron (FSS) with direct oversight of unit training, readiness, and plans functions.
Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other base organizations, senior leadership, representatives from other military services, Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, and other related civilian organizations regarding services provided.
Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for operations programs to ensure services and functions are in line with organizational goals and mission requirements.

- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
- This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
- Incumbents of key positions must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling of the position during an emergency are not available.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-03, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in a wide range of manpower, personnel, education, family & readiness, instructional systems, and/or services operations, directives, programs, and procedures; as well as experience in monitoring and influencing cost parameters or work, tasks, and projects; and establishing priorities that reflect mission and organizational goals appropriate for the positions
NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of manpower, personnel, education, family & readiness, instructional systems, and/or services operations, directives, programs, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of financial, budget, and resource management practices and principles.
4. Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing data/facts, developing conclusions, identifying trends, developing alternatives/solutions, and making recommendations to resolve problems.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization.
6. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
