This is for multiple Supervisory Economist positions: one in the Construction & Intellectual Property Section and one in the Accommodations, Entertainment & Consumer Services Section of the Expenditure and Income Division located at the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
This vacancy announcement may be used to fill other Supervisory Economist, ZP-0110-4, FPL 4 positions within the Bureau of Economic Analysis in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Supervise the preparation of NIPA and Industry estimates.
Analyze and manipulate data, including statistics on expenditures and prices.
Oversee improvements in methodology and estimation techniques.
Communicate economic concepts, methods and results in writing and in person to high-level stakeholders internal and external to the agency.
Provide leadership and direction for staff.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade or Band Levels:
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
BAND LEVEL REQUIREMENTS:
In addition to meeting the Basic Entry Requirements above, applicants must have the experience listed below.
Band IV (GS-13/14) To qualify for the Band IV (GS-13/14 level), you must meet the basic requirements listed above and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12 level) or Band III. Examples of qualifying experience include analyzing and developing economic statistics; conducting and assisting staff with research to improve estimation methodologies; discussing and explaining statistics and methods used to various audiences; manage staff on projects; present solutions to improve program efficiency and effectiveness; and providing vision, oversight and guidance to staff.
Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
