This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Industrial Operations Division (IOD), IOD Industrial Productions Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Duties

The employee serves as the General Foreman responsible for multiple subordinate shops providing ongoing management of depot level aircraft repair, component repair/overhaul or manufacture, production workload and scheduling. The primary responsibility is to ensure all personnel, processes, tooling and equipment to provide aircraft and components are available as demanded by Product Line and Enterprise Production System (EPS). The incumbent provides the motivating force to implement and accomplish the various functions of the branch and is responsible for the integration of the several organizational elements into a harmonious workforce. Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required.
  • The incumbent will be subject to overtime or recall as needed.
  • Rotating shift work may be required.
  • May be required to fly on Coast Guard Aircraft.
  • May be required to file a CFDR annually.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience includes experience demonstrating aircraft production technical competence, aircraft mechanic or avionics trade skill, effectively allocating resources to accomplish missions, troubleshooting problem areas and recommending solutions, and advising management.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
