About the Position:Located at Fort Hamilton in Southern New York City. Bay Ridge Brooklyn is at the base of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, is a vibrant cultural area, and only 20 minutes to mid-town Manhattan.
Duties
Serves as the Lead Police Officer (Logistics) for Fort Hamilton Military Community, Directorate of Emergency Services, Police Division.
Acts as the Logistics Support Police Officer and Contract Officer Technical Representative (COTR) responsible for administration, execution, and direction of the Department of Emergency Services (DES) Property Management and Accountability Program.
Responsible for operations to include patrols, DA Police Desk operations, coordination of special events, traffic-accident investigations, serious incident notifications, and conduct of various investigations as directed.
Participants in budget reviews with Director of Emergency Services and provides information on long and short range budget requirements for Divisions equipment, supplies, and service requirements.
Serves as Contractor Officer Technical Representative (COTR). Reviews work for accuracy and compliance with statement of work, regulatory requirements, established standards and procedures.
Regularly leads and instructs three or more police officers who are responsible for maintaining law and order.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete the U.S. Army Military Police School (USAMPS) Civilian Police Academy program instruction within one year.
- Complete training certification related to police work functions including DODI 5525.15 requirements; FEMA IS-100, -200, -700, -701, and -800.B; HAZMAT Awareness; Radiation Safety Training; operating special vehicles; CPR/first aid.
- This position requires the incumbent to be certified in the use of radar detection equipment and alcohol detection equipment within 12 months of employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
- Subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. Bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position requires the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle. The incumbent will be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintains defensive drivers course (DDC) requirements.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
- This position requires the incumbent to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their jurisdictions and required to re-familiarize themselves with authorized weapons periodically and demonstrate skill/proficiency in their use.
- This position requires the incumbent to wear a prescribed uniform while on duty.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08)
