This position is located at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in the Facility Management Division.
This position is concurrently open to Status (Federal/Veteran/Other Eligible) under Announcement Number IM-1541-GLCA-24-12447439-ST.
Duties
The incumbent works with the supervisor to plan weekly work schedules and sequences of operations of the UpLake District. Serves as a working leader and provides daily direction to at least three (3) workers to accomplish trade work on a regular and recurring bases. Performs non-supervisory work requiring the use of a variety of trade practices similar to those lead. Below are additional duties:
Repairs and installs utility systems.
Performs plumbing on water tanks and floats, potable water systems and related equipment such as mains, valves, storage tanks.
Performs electrical wiring necessary to maintain existing single or three phase.
Obtain and maintain Wastewater Treatment Certification, Level 1 (Lagoons) within 1 year from entry on duty.
Obtain and maintain Water Distribution License, Level 1 within 1 year from entry on duty.
Obtain and maintain Water Treatment Operator Certification, Level 1 or higher.
Obtain and maintain Commercial Class B Driver's License with Tanker endorsement, within 1 year from entry on duty.
Halls Crossing - San Juan, Utah is a small, remote, in-park community of approximately 100 residents during the summer and about 5 residents in the winter. Amenities at Halls crossing are very limited. Halls Crossing is a short boat ride to Bullfrog where amenities include a marina, marina store and gas docks, seasonal lodge and restaurant, gas station/convenience store and garage, and urgent care clinic, and a K-12 school. Teacher/student ratio is 1 teacher per 2-5 students. Full-service communities are in Blanding, Utah (90 miles) and Moab, Utah (162 miles) which has a small hospital and dentists. Major services are available in Cortez, Durango, and Grand Junction, Colorado, or Page, Arizona, all 3 to 5 hours away via all-weather highways. The Bullfrog Sub-District encompasses beautiful red-rock canyon country. Bullfrog is the main access point to Lake Powell in the Uplake District and visitation is heavy in the summer. Summer temperatures run to the low 100's and winter temperatures are in the 30's with sunshine most days of the year. Recreation runs the spectrum of outdoor activities with backpacking, canyoneering, skiing (water and snow), boating, whitewater sports, hunting and fishing all within a few hours' drive and some within walking distance of the housing area. This is an active outdoor community, and social events are common.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Use of Measuring Instruments
