You will serve as a SUPERVISORY GENERAL ENGINEER in the Industry Management& Fleet Technical Support Division, Engineering and Planning Department, of PSNS and IMF. Duties

You will serve as senior civilian supervisor and technical authority for EPD at PSNS IMF Detachment Everett, with additional contractor oversight and technical authority responsibilities in Bremerton. You will assign, coordinate, monitor, and review the planning and administration of engineering support for contracts related to the repair/overhaul/conversion of ships, dry docks, and service craft assigned to PSNS IMF and NWRMC. You will oversee ship technical support, assessments, and material services to ensure fleet readiness of HME and weapons systems onboard ships of the U.S. Navy (Pacific Fleet), Military Sea Lift Command (MSC), Coast Guard, and Foreign Navies. You will provide all necessary managerial, financial, and administrative duties associated with the operation of the Industry Management and Fleet Technical Support Division. You will review and assume responsibility for final technical adequacy and timely completion of the work performed by the division. You will serve as chief consultant to the NWRMC Chief Engineer on all engineering matters concerned with highly technical features of aircraft carrier and surface ship design.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Employing professional engineering concepts, theories, and principes to oversee administrative and programmatic operations (e.g., strategic planning, workforce and workload management, staff development, resource management) for the repair, overhaul, or conversion of ships, drydocks, or service craft. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
