You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR) in the FORCE PROTECTION DIVISION of NAF EL CENTRO SEC DET.
Duties
You will develop law enforcement training programs, schedules, personnel actions, and operating plans for a police force.
You will conduct field inspection of weapons assigned to law enforcement personnel.
You will identify law enforcement employee development needs to verify performance goals are met.
You will answer questions relating to law enforcement inquiries.
You will collaborate with training facilities (e.g., installation personnel, regional training academy staff) to supplement course instruction.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.
- Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy.
- Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 month of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309.

1) Preparing course materials in the field of law enforcement; 2) Providing up-to-date material and information to students; 3) Conducting lectures, discussions, conferences, and demonstrations on law enforcement, investigative techniques, procedures, and practical applications; 4) Identifying training needs and requirements of each law enforcement student, ensuring training is scheduled and completed. Required to carry firearms or other weapons authorized for their specific jurisdictions (I.E., applicable Navy, Federal and State certifications) and required to re-familiarize themselves with authorized weapons periodically and demonstrate skill or proficiency in their use.
Must meet the provision of the Lautenberg Amendment.
Call back and emergency overtime maybe requirements of this position.
Work may include assignment to train second, third or rotating shifts or weekend and holidays.
Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.
Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain the following training, licensing, and certifications: Explosive/Hazardous Materials Driver.
Occasional travel is involved to field locations to coordinate training activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position may require conducting training on various shift work hours. Requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, driving, bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, crawling and similar activities and lifting and carrying of heavy objects 50 pounds or less, such as weapons, training equipment such as TVNCR, overhead projector, etc. Occasional travel is involved to field locations to coordinate training activities. Training is conducted in a classroom setting.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed where there is exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness. May be required to use protective clothing or gear. Normal work place is an office. Duties require visitation to classrooms, conferences, firearms ranges and other training sites. Physical exposure to lead and loud noises is incurred; however, protective measure such as advanced ventilation systems and hearing protection is afforded.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
