About the Position: Serves as a multi-functional specialist prioritizing Army Community Service delivery in support of local military and family needs. Provides ACS services designed to maximize Soldier, Retiree, Family, Survivor, and Civilian adaptability, promote self-reliance, and Readiness.

Duties

Serves at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting commanders with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military family needs. Establishes, implements, assigns and manages Soldier and Family readiness services delivery procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and meet community needs. Consults with on- and off-site community leadership officials on Soldier and Family readiness services and related issues. Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. Serves as unit service coordinator, providing services to a designated military unit.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as psychology, sociology, counseling, or related fields. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Implementing various services or programs designed to assist Survivors, Service Members and Families; (2) Advising on various community volunteer and Survivor Outreach Services, programs, or support group services; and/or (3) Identifying, facilitating and sponsoring training in-house and with local agencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailCommunicationsPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
