This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

Assembles, repairs and services a variety of mobile equipment components, portable units and shelters, van-type trucks and trailers. Work is of a repetitive nature involving fitting, aligning and adjusting a variety of mobile equipment components, subassemblies and complete assemblies to extremely close tolerance. Works from blueprints and assembly drawings. Assists in developing required mechanical aids to perform unusual assembly operations. Operates standard machines and bench tools. Uses milling machines, drill press, arbor press, hand tools and hand powered tools.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) General Equipment Assembler~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which includes assembling equipment components, portable units and shelters, van-type trucks, trailers and other types of wheeled equipment; reviewing blueprints or drawings to determine dimensions; operate standard machines and bench tools used in modifying parts. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 50 pounds, and often exert similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work requires frequent pushing, bending, reaching, standing, stopping, pulling, crawling, knelling, and climbing on a ladder or attached climbing devices. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work inside and occasionally outside in cold, drafty, damp, hot conditions. Both inside and outside, workers are exposed to irritations and discomfort from dust, grease, heat, and fumes. Conducts work on parts and systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy. May be subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, assembling, and moving equipment. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods
