Duties

The journeyman locksmith is responsible for the development, refinement, and maintenance of a lock key production, issuance, inventory, accountability, and rapid key change system at this facility as directed by the Director of Facilities Management. Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for planning, setting up, maintaining master key systems such as mortise, rim, key in the knob, deadbolt, padlocks, and assuring no interchanges occur Make independent judgement in determining the work sequence, selection, and use of trade tools and techniques applied Perform full installation and repair cycle on commercially manufactures locking devices as well as re-working locks to improve or provide structural stability Provide assistance to construction personnel in the design and installation of locking systems May be required to work other crafts as time permits. Other crafts may include: patches plaster walls and ceilings, install cabinets, install drop ceilings, perform preventative maintenance to keep building in good repair Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not available Position Description Title/PD#: Locksmith/PD083700 Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not available Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/01/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work frequently includes stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions. May work on scaffolding and ladders. Frequently carries or lifts parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Considerable arm movement is necessary and may occasionally lift and set up units that weigh over 50 pounds.
