Duties

The journeyman locksmith is responsible for the development, refinement, and maintenance of a lock key production, issuance, inventory, accountability, and rapid key change system at this facility as directed by the Director of Facilities Management. Duties include but are not limited to: Responsible for planning, setting up, maintaining master key systems such as mortise, rim, key in the knob, deadbolt, padlocks, and assuring no interchanges occur Make independent judgement in determining the work sequence, selection, and use of trade tools and techniques applied Perform full installation and repair cycle on commercially manufactures locking devices as well as re-working locks to improve or provide structural stability Provide assistance to construction personnel in the design and installation of locking systems May be required to work other crafts as time permits. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Work frequently includes stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions. May work on scaffolding and ladders.
