This position is located in Chinle Service Unit, Pinon Health Center, Administration, Information Resources Management Department, Pinon, Arizona. This position involves analytical and evaluative duties related to computer networking, telecommunications, Local Area Network (LAN) system administration, maintain Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) links, servers, workstations, the premise cable plant and servicing of customer requests.
Duties
Monitors and maintains network operations.
Installs and configures network hardware and software on both services and clients.
Analyzes and provides problem diagnosis of system components.
Performs basic telecommunications troubleshooting such as checking phone cabling continuity, replacing phone as necessary and setting them up.
Maintains the operating systems and integrated file management of data base subsystem and telecommunication systems.
Provide for data integrity by using backups, system monitoring and other network tools.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
This standard allows eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified in the section titled Experience.
Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Experience:
Experience must be Information Technology related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, Information Technology certification), as appropriate
GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have Information Technology-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience for GS-7 (or equivalent) and Above: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-09 - Installs, maintains and repairs software and hardware supporting information and communication systems; provides customer technical assistance and support for all users; works in Windows operating systems to include server editions, Microsoft Office applications, Active Directory, Exchange, Mumps and other programming environments; installs, configures and troubleshoots Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) components such as routers, switches and servers; maintains a customer database to track trends; demonstrate processes and provide orientation for new users; and oversees migration of data. GS-11 - Installs, maintains, upgrades and repairs software and hardware supporting a broad range of information and communication systems; optimizes the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems and ensures reliability of existing system resources; determines customer requirements and assists customers by recognizing and analyzing trends and providing instruction and orientation services; work in Windows operating systems to include server editions, Microsoft Office applications, Active Directory, Exchange, Mumps and other programming environments; installs configures and troubleshoots Local Area Network/Wide Are Network (LAN/WAN) components such as routers, switches and servers; applies customer service and customer support principles and methods; demonstrates process and provide orientation for new users; conducts feasibility studies to identify and analyze system failures and analyzes data to determine if trends exist which forecast the need for future replacement or modification of system hardware and software.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
